Scicli

Scicli (pronounced sheek-ly) is one of the UNESCO-listed Baroque towns of south-east Sicily and one of the filming locations for popular Sicilian detective drama Il Commissario Montalbano.

The Baroque style is evident everywhere.

The most interesting religious buildings are the churches of San Bartolomeo and Santa Maria La Nova, outside the main town centre. The interior of the Church of San Bartolomeo is the most richly decorated in the city in terms of works of art. The one of Santa Maria La Nova has three naves and an eclectic Neo-classical style.

The peculiarity – and attraction – of Scicli is partly due to its setting and the surrounding natural environment.
